Channel 4 has unveiled the trailer for Summerwater, a gripping new Scottish drama inspired by Sarah Moss’s acclaimed novel. This six-part series, premiering later this month, is the first production from Glasgow-based indie Freedom Scripted.
They are joined by a strong supporting cast including Dougray Scott, Shirley Henderson, Valene Kane, Arnas Fedaravičius, Anna Próchniak, and Gabriel Scott.
The series is adapted by John Donnelly, known for Utopia and The Pass, and directed by Robert McKillop (Guilt) and Fiona Walton (Rebus).
Summerwater is set in a rain-soaked holiday cabin park in the Scottish Highlands, where tensions among the holidaymakers escalate toward a dramatic climax.
Told through intertwined perspectives, the drama delves into fleeting moments of beauty, silent resentments, and the hidden pressures lurking beneath everyday lives, culminating in a single, shattering day by the loch.
