Reghan Grimes entered the season needing just five points to join the 1,000-point club. Instead, the Tennessee Tech senior exploded for 24 points on Monday night, leading the Golden Eagles to a 92-67 victory over the University of the Cumberlands at the Eblen Center.
The Golden Eagles shot nearly 50%, going 30-for-61 from the field, 10-for-22 from beyond the arc, and 22-for-33 at the free-throw line. However, fouls presented challenges, with Tech committing 33 total fouls, pushing seven players close to disqualification.
The University of the Cumberlands Patriots capitalized with 50 free-throw attempts, making 32 for a 64% rate.
Joy Kendrick, who was 12-for-15 at the line, led the Patriots with 21 points despite shooting 4-for-15 from the field.
