Ryan Wood set for Bathurst upset after Feeney crash

Ryan Wood has one hand on a Bathurst 1000 victory after Supercars heavyweight Broc Feeney crashed out.

The Bathurst 1000 will go down to the wire after Feeney suffered a race-ending crash in wet conditions.

Feeney was running third before slamming into the wall at Forrest's Elbow, bringing out a safety car for rivals in Sunday's 161-lap race.

Ryan Wood led the race for Walkinshaw Andretti United and had to defend against a dogged James Golding across the final 35 laps.

Matt Payne, who leapfrogged Feeney in the series standings, was third.

Last year's Bathurst 1000 winner and pole-sitter Brodie Kostecki was 22nd after copping a penalty for running rookie Kai Allen off track.

Author's summary: Ryan Wood leads Bathurst 1000 after Feeney's crash.
