Sources reveal that Caroline Kennedy has urged her son, Jack Schlossberg, not to run for Congress. She is reportedly “living in fear” that his campaign could expose him to threats from violent critics.
Jack Schlossberg, a progressive Democrat known for his outspoken social media presence with about 1.6 million followers, announced his candidacy on Tuesday. He aims to fill the Manhattan congressional seat vacated by retiring Jerrold Nadler, who has held the position for over 30 years.
“Caroline has pleaded with Jack not to run, but he seems determined to follow in the political footsteps of his grandfather [President John F. Kennedy] and generations of other Kennedys who have held political office,” an insider shared.
A close source added that Caroline is deeply concerned, believing, “the political world has become too dangerous, too frightening, too crazy,” and therefore she does not want her only son to enter elective politics in today's charged climate.
Jerrold Nadler announced his retirement in September, stating it was “the right time to pass the torch to a new generation.” Schlossberg’s campaign website underscores this sentiment: “Each generation of Americans is tested. The 2026 midterms is our moment.”
Despite Caroline Kennedy’s fears of political danger, Jack Schlossberg is determined to pursue a congressional seat to continue the Kennedy family’s political legacy.
