Gabriel Landeskog, captain of the Colorado Avalanche, netted his first official goal of the 2025-26 season during the second period against the Anaheim Ducks. Although he found the net twice before this season, this is the first goal to officially count for him this year.
The crowd erupted with cheers and chants of "Landy" as the goal was announced.
"It was nice to move on. I think it’s my second-longest goal drought in my career. So it was nice to just be done with it," Landeskog shared post-game. "I try not to focus on the outcome, just kind of surrender that and focus on what I can do on a shift-to-shift basis. But having said that, obviously you’d like to go home and know that you at least got one on the score sheet... So my son will be happy in the morning when he wakes up to the news."
Landeskog’s last regular-season goal was on March 5, 2022. He did score in last season’s playoff series against the Dallas Stars.
