A five-year-old boy died after a wall collapsed during a family outing at Sidcup Family Golf in Chislehurst, southeast London. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at a birthday party held at the golf venue.
Sidcup Family Golf, which features a 46-bay multi-tier driving range and two outdoor dinosaur-themed crazy golf courses, has been closed since the accident. Alongside the boy, a six-year-old girl was also injured but has since been discharged from the hospital.
“We are deeply saddened to hear that the child injured on Sunday has tragically passed away. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the child’s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. We are co-operating fully with the authorities as they continue their investigation and are providing every possible support to those affected by this tragedy.”
Colin Williams, 67, a regular player at the club with a driving range and children's adventure park, expressed shock:
“I’m in utter shock. I’ve turned up to go the club shop and can’t believe it. I have three grandchildren it’s so terrible. It’s such a friendly club and the kids’ area is very popular. To turn up and see police here just is awful. I’m shaken by this.”
The gates of the golf centre remain padlocked while officials investigate the incident.
