Joy Moore, who was to be formally installed as president of Northern Seminary last Friday, was not installed due to a decision made by the school's trustees.
The decision came after a series of meetings in the days prior to the scheduled installation. A fundraising dinner took place as planned, but an announcement was made at the end of the dinner by board leaders stating that Moore would not be installed as president.
Moore had decided she was not a good fit for the role as currently structured.
A news release with this explanation was posted on the seminary website overnight Thursday, but was taken down by Sunday.
