Cole Beto and Rockford Lutheran Girls Finish Fifth at State Golf Tourney
Boylan senior Cole Beto and the Rockford Lutheran girls team took fifth place at the IHSA state golf tournament.
Leading the Rockford area in the tournament, Beto finished tied for fifth in the Class 2A boys final standings at 5-over. He shot a 5-over 76 on the first day and an even-par 72 on the final day.
"That first day just wasn't what he wanted,"
said Boylan head coach John Canova, but Beto turned it around with a strong final day of action. The winner, Dunlap junior Nolan Eccles, finished at 5-under.
- Other notable performances include Belvidere North junior Sean O’Connell, who shot a two-round score of +14 and finished in a tie for 36th.
