Portsmouth City Council voted to accept settlement funds from PFAS Litigation to go towards the city’s Waterworks Capital Improvement Fund.
The funds come after the state of Ohio filed a suit against DuPont, Chemours, and Corteva in November of 2023 to resolve claims over PFAS contamination, also known as forever chemicals.
The Council’s Vice President, Lyvette Barnes-Mosley, voted to waive the remaining hearing and to accept the payout of over $780,000. This money will go towards repairs and improvements within the city’s water system.
