Councillors in the Adare/Rathkeale Municipal District have expressed dissatisfaction with the selection process for representing the Mayor of Limerick at local events.
A heated discussion arose during their October meeting regarding the protocol for deputising for Mayor John Moran at official events within the district.
Cllr Stephen Keary asked: "Who was asked to attend the opening of the new graveyard in Askeaton?"
The dispute began over the opening of the Reilig Mhuire extension in Askeaton, where independent councillor Tommy Hartigan attended on behalf of the Mayor.
Cathaoirleach Cllr Ger Ward explained that he was initially invited but unable to attend due to travel to New York for the Ryder Cup.
