Postal Service Delays Hit Newspaper Industry

Delays in the Postal Service are exacerbating the challenges faced by the newspaper industry. Subscribers are experiencing delays of up to two months in receiving their newspapers.

Jill Friesz, owner of GS Publishing, which operates seven weekly newspapers in North Dakota, has firsthand experience with the issue. A frustrated subscriber recently visited her office, expressing his dissatisfaction with the constant delays. Friesz noted that this subscriber was not alone, as many others have called to complain about the irregular delivery of their newspapers.

“I have so many frustrated people that call and just say, ‘Well, there’s no point in me getting the newspaper because it never gets delivered to me,’”

Friesz said, highlighting the severity of the problem. The delays are not only affecting subscribers but also the newspaper business as a whole, making an already tight industry even harder to navigate.
