Judge blocks hemp ban as Gov. DeWine points to increased underage exposure

Judge Blocks Hemp Ban as Gov. DeWine Cites Underage Exposure Concerns

A Franklin County judge has delayed a 90-day executive order banning intoxicating hemp products, such as THC-infused gummies and beverages, issued by Gov. Mike DeWine.

The ban, which took effect recently, was put on hold by Judge Carl Aveni for 14 days to allow a lawsuit by several retailers and businesses to proceed.

“One problem with the intoxicating hemp products, they weren’t regulated at all, so they looked like food or candy that doesn’t have child-resistant packaging,”

According to Gov. DeWine, the ban was necessary due to concerns over increased underage exposure to unregulated hemp-derived THC products.

Autor's summary: Judge delays hemp ban for two weeks.
