Letter to the Editor: No Kings Day is a Nonviolent Action
As a host of the upcoming No Kings protest event in Bellows Falls, I want to share a statement from the national Indivisible organization regarding Speaker Johnson's statement.
Today, House Speaker Mike Johnson blamed the peaceful No Kings Day of Action on October 18 for the ongoing government shutdown.
The No Kings coalition responded, stating that Speaker Johnson is running out of excuses for keeping the government shut down.
Instead of reopening the government, preserving affordable healthcare, or lowering costs for working families, he’s attacking millions of Americans who are peacefully coming together to say that America belongs to its people, not to kings.
The coalition concluded:
