First seed and home favorite Naomi Osaka is pursuing her first title at the Japan Open.
Osaka faced a challenging match against defending champion Suzan Lamens in the fourth round. Although Osaka won the first set, Lamens put up a tough fight, and Osaka was unable to capitalize on her lead in the second set.
In the third set, Osaka started strongly, taking a 5-0 lead. However, during the set, she injured her left leg when Lamens hit a backhand shot. Despite the injury, Osaka continued playing and requested a medical timeout, returning to the court with a strapped left thigh.
