The Utah Republican Party has launched efforts to undo a voter-approved initiative and a recently approved set of congressional maps.
In Salt Lake City, Utah GOP Chair Rob Axson filed a citizen initiative to repeal Proposition 4, which created an independent redistricting commission.
Utah voters “did not understand what they were signing up for” when approving Proposition 4, according to Axson.
A referendum was also filed to overturn the new congressional map passed by lawmakers in a special session.
The measure established a seven-member independent commission to draw and recommend congressional and legislative maps.
