According to Sarah Langs, this milestone was last reached in 1970 when the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles took the first two games of their respective League Championship Series.
- The 1970 Cincinnati Reds won the first two games against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Three Rivers Stadium.
- The 1970 Baltimore Orioles took the first two games against the Minnesota Twins at Metropolitan Stadium, scoring 21 runs.
Both League Championship Series ended in three-game sweeps.
The Orioles then won the World Series against the Reds in five games. Hopefully, history will not repeat itself in the same way this time.
