Robert Irwin, a 21-year-old wildlife conservationist, broke down after his "Dancing with the Stars" performance, which was a dedication to his mom, Terri Irwin, and all mothers experiencing grief after loss.
Backstage, Robert explained that the dance was emotionally challenging, as it brought up grief over the loss of his late father, Steve Irwin.
It was really hard to express that and really hard to actually get through a dance while internally you’re processing and getting all of these emotions out there. It feels like a weight lifted in a way.
The emotional contemporary dance ended with Terri joining her son on stage, leaving the audience and judges, including Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba, in tears.
