A pregnant Amazon employee asked for a chair to sit on—and wound up homeless

A Pregnant Amazon Employee's Struggle

A 20-year-old Amazon warehouse worker, Genesis, faced difficulties at work after becoming pregnant in the spring of 2024.

"You're just a number to them."

Genesis, a "stower" at an Amazon warehouse in Southern California, requested accommodations due to her pregnancy, including regular breaks, limited bending and twisting, and lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time, as advised by her doctor.

Despite her efforts to continue working full-time to save up for her baby's arrival, Genesis says her manager wrote her up for sitting down and taking breaks, which ultimately led to her becoming homeless.
