New M5 iPad Pro beats the MacBook Pro in some areas
Looking under the hood of the new M5 iPad Pro, there are some surprising advantages it has over the accompanying MacBook Pro.
Last year, Apple made the surprise decision to debut a new chipset with its iPad Pro range, rather than introducing the updated silicon to its Mac and MacBook devices first.
This year, Apple has launched its M5 system-on-chip on the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro simultaneously.
Although the M5 chip contains the same number of compute cores as the M4, Apple claims considerable performance increases across the board, such as
- 3.5 times faster AI performance than the M4 model
- 1.5 times faster ray-traced 3D rendering
