Proposed Repeal of Florida's 'Free Kill' Law Advances
A proposed repeal of Florida's law that denies some families the ability to sue for non-economic damages has advanced to the penultimate House Committee.

The bill, HB 6003, would repeal the unique Florida law and allow families to sue for non-economic damages, such as grief and loss of companionship, if a hospital or doctor's error kills their loved one.
- The measure is virtually identical to a bill lawmakers approved in May.
- Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoed the previous bill due to its lack of caps on damages.
- Rep. Dana Trabulsy and Rep. Johanna López have revived the proposal without limits on damages.
The bill is one vote away from reaching the House floor.
