Bakersfield Man Identified in Fatal Sumner Street Shooting
A 34-year-old Bakersfield man, Jeffery Stevenson, was shot to death on Sumner Street early Tuesday morning, according to the Kern County coroner.
The Bakersfield Police Department reported that on October 14th, 2025, at approximately 1:08 a.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 600 block of Sumner Street. Upon arrival, they found a man with a gunshot wound lying on the sidewalk, who was declared dead at the scene by medical aid.
Homicide investigators have taken over the investigation, but so far, no arrests have been made and no suspect information is available. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and call the Bakersfield Police Department at 661-327-7111.
