Unions Sue to Stop AI Surveillance Powering Trump’s “Catch and Revoke” Deportation Scheme

Three major labor unions have sued the federal government to stop a social media surveillance program designed to revoke visas and green cards of immigrants with "hostile attitudes" about the government.

The unions claim the AI-powered program has suppressed free speech, targeting members, including graduate students with pro-Palestine views.

The First Amendment applies to everyone who lives in the U.S.

This lawsuit, filed by three civil liberties groups, is the first to challenge the surveillance program itself, according to Lisa Femia, a lawyer with the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
