Albany Man Accused of Killing Sister Pleads Not Guilty
A 60-year-old man from Albany, New York, Alfonoso Lester, pleaded not guilty to murder and burglary charges in Albany City Criminal Court on Thursday morning.
Lester is accused of killing his 61-year-old sister, Angela Helms, at a home on Hudson Avenue in Albany on Wednesday morning.
She is somebody that is very passionate about what is going on in Albany County as a whole. Especially with the youth, with the students. You know, so she is she is going to be very, very missed in the community.
According to court documents, Alfonso Lester "knowingly entered and remained unlawfully inside of the above residence belonging to the victim."
An Albany County Legislator, Beroro Efekoro, who knew Helms and represented district 7 in Albany County, shared his thoughts on her passing.
