Jessica Pegula Defeats Aryna Sabalenka in Wuhan Open
Jessica Pegula has finally achieved a win over Aryna Sabalenka, trailing 3-8 in their head-to-head matchups.
Pegula came from a set down to secure her third career win over Sabalenka in the Wuhan Open, after playing 11 matches and suffering four consecutive losses.
Prior to this season, Pegula had limited success in Wuhan, never progressing beyond the third round, and had not played a quarterfinal in a WTA 1000 event in the East Asian swing.
Her recent run was ended by Linda Noskova in the China Open semifinals, and Sabalenka was the reason she couldn't win three Big Titles, including last year's US Open.
