WorldSBK: Bulega Tops Opening Practice In Spain
Nicolo Bulega was quickest during FIM Superbike World Championship Free Practice 1 Friday morning at Jerez, in Spain.
Riding his Pirelli-shod Aruba.it Racing Ducati Panigale V4R on the 2.75-mile (4.42 km) track, the Italian recorded a 1:38.587 to lead the field of 25 riders.
- Toprak Razgatlioglu was the best of the rest with a 1:38.675 on his ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team M1000RR.
- Xavi Vierge was third-fastest with a 1:39.009 on his Honda HRC CBR1000 RR-R.
- Americans Garrett Gerloff finished the opening session in 11th with a 1:39.737 on his Kawasaki ZX-10RR and wildcard Bobby Fong got 24th on his Attack Performance Yamaha YZF R1.
Bulega pips Razgatlioglu by 0.088s ahead in FP1 ahead of WorldSBK’s title decider at Jerez.
The top two in the Championship finished 1-2 in FP1, while there were three manufacturers in the top three.
