Longtime BMX veteran Bernie Anderson, who helped establish and grow the USA BMX organization, died Tuesday at the age of 93.
Anderson's introduction to BMX came in the late 1970s, when his two sons encouraged him to try the sport. He soon became a leader in the San Antonio BMX community and operated the Lonestar BMX track.
In 2011, the ABA acquired rival group the National Bicycle League and rebranded as USA BMX.
His legacy will be remembered as a pioneer in the BMX community.
