Obituary: Elaine M. LaLuzerne
Elaine M. LaLuzerne passed away peacefully and woke to new life in Christ on October 22, 2025.
She was born on November 22, 1937, in Rudyard, Michigan to Elmer and Florence (English) Toppe. The family moved to Door County when Elaine was 5 years old.
Elaine attended Sturgeon Bay High School and graduated in 1955. She then attended DK Teachers College in Algoma, where she met her future husband, Darrel LaLuzerne.
Elaine and Darrel taught in Door County public schools until the birth of their first child, Cindy, in 1964. They bought their home in Sturgeon Bay that same year and had a son, Joe, in 1966.
She loved raising her children, being the welcoming Mom to all the neighbor kids.
Elaine enjoyed keeping a cozy home and welcoming family and friends for home-cooked meals, fellowship, and laughter.
