Inside the Chicago Resistance
Civilians are taking action by tailing officers, guarding Home Depots, and patrolling their neighborhoods, amidst a backdrop of resistance against ICE.
On the East Side of Chicago, a working-class Latino and Black community, a dramatic scene unfolded on Tuesday afternoon. A car chase ended in the neighborhood, with federal agents pursuing a car allegedly driven by an undocumented immigrant. The chase culminated in the car being rammed intentionally, and the occupants were pursued on foot.
A local resident, Pauly, found himself at the center of the commotion, standing at the corner of 105th and Avenue N, next to the La Flor corner store. He examined three metal containers he had picked up from the street:
- a tear-gas canister
- a smoke-grenade can
- a pepper-ball projectile round
The events unfolded rapidly, with residents like Pauly emerging to investigate the disturbance.
