A 23-year-old Brazilian social media star, Melissa Said, has been arrested after a manhunt. She is accused of leading a major criminal gang involved in cannabis distribution and money laundering.
Said, who has over 340,000 Instagram followers, was on the run since Wednesday when her properties were raided by the Bahia Civil Police. She is suspected of facilitating and encouraging the smuggling of illegal substances in Bahia and São Paulo.
She was arrested while hiding at a friend's house in Bahia, following an intensive surveillance effort.
