A new wave of repression is sweeping the country, with
an explosive surge in convictions under political charges, as observed by the Telegram channel We Can Explain.
This surge is marked by a significant increase in convictions under terrorism-related articles, with 210 people convicted in the first half of 2025, compared to 25 in the same period in 2024 and 8 in 2023, representing a twenty-six-fold increase over 2023.
Additionally, the number of sentences for
justifying terrorismhas also risen sharply, reaching 243, nearly double the number in early 2023.
