Semitruck Driver Pleads Not Guilty in Deadly Crash

A semitruck driver, Jashanpreet Singh, has pleaded not guilty to multiple criminal counts after being charged in a deadly chain-reaction crash on the 10 Freeway in Ontario.

Singh obtained his commercial driver's license through state and federal processes in place at the time. However, these processes changed on a federal level on September 26, just over a month before the crash.

With the help of a public defender and an interpreter, Singh pleaded not guilty to counts including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs.

Singh's commercial driver's license was obtained through processes that were in place at the time, but have since changed.

Singh made his first appearance in the case in a Rancho Cucamonga courtroom on Friday morning.
