The Dunard Centre, Edinburgh's first purpose-built concert hall in over a century, has reached a significant milestone with the signing of the construction contract, following a £40 million funding boost.
The £162 million main construction contract was signed with Balfour Beatty, and construction is set to start within weeks on the site behind the historic Royal Bank of Scotland branch on St Andrew Square.
The 1,000-seat hall, dubbed as the "hall for all", will host a variety of music genres and will serve as a permanent home for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, as well as a new venue for the Edinburgh International Festival. It is projected to be completed by 2029.
