Waverley Borough Council is introducing a new parking initiative to boost local businesses in town centres.
The "Pay One, Stay Two" scheme, developed with Haslemere Town Council and local BIDs, offers a free second hour of parking when a one-hour ticket is purchased on Wednesdays, from 1pm to 10pm.
"We know that simply increasing footfall isn't enough – what matters is encouraging people to stay longer and spend more in our fantastic independent shops, cafés, pubs, and restaurants. This new 'Pay One, Stay Two' offer is a smart, targeted way to do just that."
Cllr Tony Fairclough, portfolio holder for enforcement and regulatory services, supports the initiative as part of a wider strategy to attract shoppers and diners to town centres.
