The interstellar object 3I/ATLAS is expected to approach the Sun on October 29 and 30, passing at a distance of 1.4 au, inside Mars' orbit.
Comet 3I/ATLAS was detected on July 1, 2025, by the ATLAS survey telescope in Rio Hurtado, Chile, and is now the most discussed interstellar object among astronomers.
According to a NASA official from the Center for Near Earth Object Studies (CNEOS), Comet 3I/ATLAS originated outside of our solar system.
Astronomers and scientists are working to study its size and physical properties.
