Gideon Bulldogs Rally Past Bernie to Clinch District Title
The Gideon Bulldogs overcame an early deficit to defeat Bernie 3-1, securing their first district volleyball title since 2021 and a spot in the state tournament.
This was the third meeting between the Gideon Bulldogs and the Bernie Mules this season, with the previous two matches resulting in a sweep by Gideon and a five-set win by Bernie, respectively.
Gideon won the decisive match in four sets, beating Bernie 3-1 to claim their first district championship since 2021. The win brought relief to head coach Kristen Ashabranner and her team, particularly after losing the first set 25-12.
“We couldn’t put anything together,”
Ashabranner said, recalling the team's struggles in the first set, where they called two timeouts before Bernie reached eight points.
