Running Scripts and Commands at Login in Ubuntu 25.10
Ubuntu 25.10 no longer includes the Startup Applications tool. However, you can still autostart scripts and run custom commands at login using .desktop files.
The Startup Applications utility is missing in Ubuntu 25.10 because the GNOME desktop provides an alternative method. To autostart apps, go to Settings, then Applications, select the desired app, and toggle Autostart on.
This method is limited to applications and does not support running custom commands or scripts at login. For such tasks, using .desktop files is the recommended approach.
The GNOME desktop provides an easier way for users to make apps open at login.
