To honor past sacrifices, Christ Church's Remembrance Day vigil will return to the downtown Chatham cenotaph.
Individuals and groups will participate in the annual event, which will run in November as a lead-in to the remembrance service. The church's pastor, John Maroney, stated that the time slots are one hour each, with participation from church members, the public, and first responders.
"We're being joined by an organization called the Guardians of Honour," he said. "They will be doing the vigil through the night. They are retired police officers, retired firefighters, EMS."
The Guardians of Honour will hold a complete, uninterrupted vigil through the night, as they did last year. The first vigil was held in 2017 for 150 hours to honor Canada's 150th year as a nation.
