Okotoks Waives Fire Pit Permits for Halloween
Okotoks Fire & Rescue has waived permit requirements for fire pits on October 31, allowing residents to have fires in their front yards or driveways for the day.
The department reminds residents to stay safe and follow all fire and safety protocols. A fire should be fully extinguished before going to bed. Outdoor fires should be closely supervised, and children near fires should be supervised as well.
- Keep a hose, bucket of water, or shovel and dirt nearby to extinguish any rogue flames.
- Avoid burning on windy and dry days to prevent a fire from spreading out of control.
All open fires should follow the guidelines as specified in the town’s Burning Bylaw 10-17.
Residents are urged to prioritize fire safety and take necessary precautions.
