Stephen King, possibly the most frequently-adapted author of all time, has expressed dissatisfaction with some film adaptations of his works.
One notable example is Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 film The Shining, based on King’s 1977 novel of the same name.
King has long been unhappy with Kubrick’s interpretation of the story of Jack Torrance, a writer who becomes the winter caretaker of the remote Overlook Hotel with his wife and son.
