No water for two years as R200-million project remains incomplete

Water Crisis in Limpopo

Vyeboom Clinic near Vuwani in Limpopo has been without running water for nearly two years due to the incomplete R200-million Malonga Water Reticulation Project.

Staff and patients are forced to bring water from home and use pit toilets, severely compromising hygiene and sanitation, according to a staff member who wished to remain anonymous.

“It is not easy to operate without running water,”

Resident Mpho Musera sometimes helps the clinic by buying water for its 5,000-litre tank, as the clinic's borehole has been dry for two years.

Author's summary: Clinic faces water crisis due to incomplete project.
