Renowned TV chef and author Rick Stein will visit Morpeth Waterstones on Thursday, November 13, to sign copies of his latest book, Rick Stein’s Christmas.
Before his visit, Caroline Dominey spoke with Rick Stein about the creation of his new book and the personal meaning of Christmas. Rick explained the idea came from his wife Sarah, who encouraged him for years to write a Christmas book. "She’s Australian and really loves Christmas here in the UK," he said.
Reflecting on the festive season, Rick added, "Christmas is something we all cherish in our hearts, especially on this rainy island. Thinking about recipes and memories made creating the book a clear choice."
Rick highlighted the festive foods as central to his celebration: "Christmas turkey, glazed ham, and all the special recipes like chutneys, jams, and mulled wines." He also shared his love for Christmas music, noting a section in the book dedicated to Christmas No. 1 hits.
"I’ve always loved carols and carol services. There are so many things that interest me, and I suspect others, about Christmas."
This book is a heartfelt tribute to the traditions and flavors of Christmas, inspired by personal memories and a deep love for the festive season.
