Free transit for veterans on Remembrance Day

Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day

TransLink will provide free transit on Tuesday, November 11, to honor veterans and active military members for their service and sacrifice. The initiative applies across Metro Vancouver’s transit system, including buses, SkyTrain, SeaBus, and HandyDART services.

Who Can Ride Free

Those eligible can simply show their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or wear their uniform to receive free travel. They do not need to tap a Compass Card when boarding buses or HandyDART vehicles. An accessible fare gate will remain open at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations from 8 a.m.

Additional Recognition

On Saturday, November 8, TransLink will also observe National Indigenous Veterans Day, acknowledging the contributions of Indigenous veterans who served to protect peace and security worldwide.

"The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs across Metro Vancouver."

TransLink encourages residents to use public transit to attend and return from Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region. Holiday fares will remain in effect for other passengers on November 11.
