Motor cruiser capsize fears sparks emergency call out

Motor Cruiser Capsize Fears Spark Rescue Operation

A motor cruiser encountered trouble in rough seas off the Suffolk coast, prompting an urgent rescue operation over fears it might overturn. The vessel was traveling from King's Lynn to London when it began struggling to make progress along the shoreline.

HM Coastguard received the distress call shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4. At 10:32 a.m., the Lowestoft lifeboat Patsy Knight was launched, joined by the windfarm support vessel Njord Forseti, whose crew also picked up the emergency transmission and offered assistance.

“Sea conditions were choppy and the cruiser, which was travelling under its own power, was rolling about a bit. I asked the Njord Forseti to go ahead to provide some shelter from the waves while our lifeboat kept close by the cruiser's side to break the sea swell.”

The coordinated efforts of both vessels helped protect the cruiser from worsening sea conditions while ensuring the safety of those on board until stability was regained.
