Erika Kirk, widow of the assassinated American conservative activist and Israel supporter Charlie Kirk, will accept an award on his behalf at the Christian Media Summit in Jerusalem this week, according to the Government Press Office (GPO).
The summit, hosted by Israel and organized by the GPO in partnership with the Foreign Ministry and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, gathers over 100 prominent Christian leaders, media representatives, and heads of organizations from multiple countries.
Four months before his assassination in September during a US college campus appearance, Kirk had written a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In it, he criticized Israel’s social media strategies, suggested improvements for its public diplomacy, and offered to meet with the Prime Minister on this issue.
The summit takes place amid ongoing debates among US conservatives regarding antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment within their ranks.
“Over 100 representatives of leading Christian media outlets, opinion leaders, religious figures, and heads of organizations from various countries” are expected to attend, the GPO states.
Kirk’s letter to Netanyahu highlighted ways for Israel to enhance its public diplomacy and offered a meeting with the Prime Minister.
Author’s summary: Erika Kirk will accept an award commemorating Charlie Kirk at a Jerusalem summit that unites global Christian leaders to advance Israeli public diplomacy and combat antisemitism.
