Spitfire Joins Remembrance Sunday in County Durham

This Remembrance Sunday, a unique hand-built, full-size reproduction Spitfire MK IX will serve as a powerful symbol of the courage and sacrifices made by those who have served in past and present conflicts.

Exhibition Details

The reproduction Spitfire, created by Simply Spitfire, will be exhibited in Millennium Place, Durham City, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 9.

Commemoration Milestones

2025 marks two significant anniversaries: the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Cllr Andrew Harrison, the Armed Forces Champion, aimed to honor these milestones with a meaningful tribute.

Support and Tribute

With the help of Squadron Leader (Retired) James A Cowan MBE and Simply Spitfire, the reproduction aircraft was secured as a fitting homage to the armed forces.

Remembrance Parade Inclusion

The Spitfire display will be positioned along the route of Durham City's annual Remembrance Parade, scheduled between 10:00 AM and noon on November 9.
