The Las Vegas Raiders suffered a setback when quarterback Geno Smith was injured during their 10-7 loss to the Denver Broncos on Thursday, November 5.
Smith finished the game with 143 passing yards and one interception. The injury occurred on the first play of the fourth quarter as Smith tried to evade Denver's star defensive player Nik Bonitto. Although the 35-year-old quarterback managed to stay upright for a few more yards, he eventually fell to the ground with Malcolm Roach landing on him.
“He was briefly replaced by Kenny Pickett before returning to the game, though he was soon deemed questionable to return with a left quad issue.”
The Raiders’ offense struggled throughout the game, managing only 188 total yards. This poor performance contributed to Las Vegas falling to a 2-7 record for the season.
Denver’s offense gained a slightly higher 220 yards. The game was ultimately decided by a crucial second-half field goal from Will Lutz, which secured the Broncos the narrow victory.
The Raiders face a tough challenge ahead after Geno Smith’s leg injury and their continued offensive difficulties contributed to a close loss against the Broncos.
