Jesper Bratt scored a breakaway goal 1:33 into overtime, leading the New Jersey Devils to a 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens at Prudential Center on Thursday.
"I just tried to read the goalie's movement and felt like I came in with a lot of speed," Bratt said. "I felt pretty comfortable in that situation to try to make him believe I'd do one thing, and just try to read what the goalie was doing."
The Devils became the first NHL team to reach 10 wins this season, with an overall record of 10-4-0.
"It's nice to get 10 wins, but we want to keep building our game," said Devils forward Timo Meier. "We know what we're trying to accomplish on a daily basis to get better and push each other. This game was a good game to learn from."
Dobes had started his season strong with six straight wins, holding a 1.97 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. After the loss, the 24-year-old rookie became emotional, accepting responsibility for the defeat.
"I feel like I let the team down," Dobes said during his postgame interview.
