Beloved Nine Star Quits After Two Decades
Channel Nine will soon face changes as beloved weathergirl Livinia Nixon announces her surprise departure from 9News Melbourne after twenty years. The bubbly personality confirmed she is stepping back to prioritize her family.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family,”
Livinia has brought weather forecasts to Australian homes for two decades, during which she has become a familiar and trusted figure. Referring to her two sons, Henry and Ted, she expressed the importance of focusing on them as they enter high school.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
Career and Future Plans
Livinia joined Nine in 1997, rising to fame through her appearances on Hey Hey It’s Saturday alongside game show legend Daryl Somers. Despite stepping back from weather presenting, she will remain with Nine and continue hosting popular travel programs.
