After two decades as the beloved weather presenter on 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has announced her departure from the nightly bulletin. She will continue her roles on Nine’s travel programs Getaway and Postcards.
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and took on the weather presenter position in 2004. Her final weather broadcast will air on Tuesday, 18 November. The decision, she explained, was motivated by her desire to support her two sons as they move into their senior schooling years.
“After 20 years presenting the weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school, and I want to be there to support them.”
Despite stepping away from daily weather duties, Nixon expressed gratitude for her long career and excitement for future opportunities with the network.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything, but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said they’re excited to spend more time with me.”
Livinia Nixon’s dedication and warmth have made her a cherished presence for Melbourne viewers, and her ongoing involvement with Nine ensures audiences will continue to see her on screen.
