9News Melbourne is preparing to say goodbye to one of its most iconic figures this November, as Livinia Nixon, the city's beloved weather presenter, will step down on November 18.
Livinia Nixon joined the network in 1997 and has been the face of 9News Melbourne’s weather segment since 2004. At 50 years old, she announced her unexpected departure to focus on family priorities.
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
Livinia shared that presenting the weather has deeply shaped her life and career, and she feels grateful for the opportunity. However, she believes now is the best moment to prioritize her family's needs.
"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
Although she is leaving her long-standing role as the weeknight weather presenter, Livinia will continue her association with the Nine Network in other capacities.
After two decades as a beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon is stepping down to dedicate more time to her family while continuing her career at the Nine Network.
